In Ghana, a foreigner receives an assignment to recruit children for a risky job. He finds Prince and Mathilda, two lively children.

Two girls grow up as best friends in an Innu community. While Mikuan has a loving family, Shaniss is picking up the pieces of her shattered childhood. It is winter in a prestigious all boys' boarding school, where children continue to practice age-old rituals and codes bound by years of hierarchy of the popular norm.
