深夜一辆开在滨海公路上的末班车，车上乘客贵妇的珍珠项链被偷，接着牵扯出群众正义下的荒谬私刑与背后隐藏的秘密，最后只剩下漆黑的海岸边火烧车的熊熊火光。

房间里，动画师正在动画台上工作。他快速地勾勒出一个卡通人物的头部，犹豫了一下，好像对自己的作品不满意，于是把卡通人物推到了一边，重新开始创作。这次他决定从人物的脚开始，很快一个无头的角色被创作出来了，但他又很快否定了自己的创意。当他准备再次绘制时，不小心打翻了颜料盘，正准备扔掉了画纸。不料，被放弃的卡通形象的头和身体竟自行结合为一体。不甘被丢弃的小人跑到动画台上，随之而来的还有被撒出去的颜料，颜料紧跟着卡通小人，随即展开了追逐与争斗。动画师看到这一幕，立马制止这混乱的场面，操纵起了小人，而小人不甘被操纵，一场激烈的开始了……本片荣获1992年奥斯卡最佳动画短片奖。
